PRIVACY POLICY

EqualSplit is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Oak Park, California (EIN 42-2981880). This page explains what information we collect through equalsplit.org, why, and what we do with it.

ANALYTICS AND COOKIES

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and move through this site: which pages get read, which links get clicked, roughly where visitors are located. This tells us what coaches actually want to know, which shapes what we write next.

We also use Google Ads conversion tracking. EqualSplit participates in Google Ad Grants, which gives nonprofits in-kind search advertising, and the program requires us to measure whether those ads lead to anything real, such as a program applying for a free unit.

Both set cookies in your browser. We do not see your name, your email, or your identity from any of this. We use none of it for advertising to you personally, and we do not run remarketing.

If you would rather not be measured, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics entirely, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking cookies or using a tracker-blocking browser also works. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

OUR STORE SITE

This policy also covers equalsplitshop.com, where we sell timing gates. It runs the same Google Analytics measurement described above, and because both sites share one Analytics property, a visit that moves from one to the other is counted as a single visit rather than two.

Purchases are processed by Square. Your payment details go to Square and never reach us; we never see or store card numbers. We do see order information such as what was bought and where to ship it, because we pack and mail the boxes ourselves.

WHAT WE COLLECT

Only what you type into a form and send us.

Free unit application. Your name, email address, an optional phone number, school or program name, location, program type, roughly how many athletes you work with, how you currently time, whatever you write about your situation, and whether you give us permission to quote your application when we apply for grants.

Question form. Your name, email address, and your message.

That is the complete list. If you never submit a form, we collect nothing.

WHY WE COLLECT IT

Applications are read by the two of us to decide where donated units go. We compare need across programs, which is the whole reason the form asks about athlete counts and current timing methods. Questions are answered by email.

We may email you about your application or your question. We do not run a marketing list and will not add you to one.

WHO ELSE SEES IT

Google Analytics and Google Ads receive the usage data described above. Formspree delivers our form submissions to our email. Google Workspace hosts that email. GitHub Pages hosts this site and keeps standard server logs. Square processes purchases on our store site. Zeffy processes donations; if you donate, your payment information goes to Zeffy and never touches us. We never see or store card numbers.

We do not sell your information, trade it, or hand it to anyone for their own use.

PHOTOGRAPHS OF ATHLETES

Some photos on this site show athletes using our gates. We publish those only with permission from the coach or program, and we rely on the program to have whatever media releases its athletes and their families require. If you are in a photo here, or you are a parent or coach of someone who is, email us and we will take it down. No explanation needed.

THE EQUALSPLIT IOS APP

The EqualSplit iPhone app collects nothing. There are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics in the app. Your roster, run history, and any video you record or import stay on your device, and none of it is transmitted to us or anyone else. We have no server, so there is nothing for us to receive or store.

The app asks for three permissions, each used only for the feature it supports: Bluetooth to connect directly to your own timing gates, Camera if you choose to record video in the app, and Photos if you choose to import a clip or save one back to your library. None are used for tracking or advertising.

Because the app holds no accounts and sends nothing off the device, this is true for users of any age, including minors training under a coach.

HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

Applications stay in our email so we can follow up and keep track of which programs are still waiting. Questions stay until they are resolved. Ask us to delete something and we will.

MINORS

This site is meant for coaches, athletic directors, and adults running programs. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a minor has sent us information, email us and we will remove it.
